Temporary Bridge Across Lake Woodlands

Underwater Technology Services installs temporary bridge for new development.

The Woodlands, Texas

Formerly known as Mitchell Island, Aria Isle at East Shore is an island located on Lake Woodlands that has sat vacant since 1986 but is now slated to accommodate 25 homes sitting on ½ to 1 acre lots.  Underwater Technology Services commissioned Robishaw Engineering to design a temporary floating bridge span for construction access on the north end of the island.  The temporary floating bridge span was needed to allow the high volume of dump trucks and other heavy equipment access to the island without traveling through the residential neighborhood bordering the permanent bridge located on the south end of the island.

The S-50 Series Flexifloats were utilized to span the 220-ft water crossing, and support loaded tandem axle dump trucks.  The modularity of the temporary span allowed the contractor to briefly remove the floating assembly to accommodate an annual triathlon event.
