CORE DRILLING ON LAKE TEXOMA

Grillot Construction, working with Texplor, used a CME-75 truck-mounted drill rig to perform some core drilling on Lake Texoma. The 33,000-lb. rig was supported on a spud barge made up of H-50 Flexifloats®. H-50 Loading Ramps were attached to the end of the assembly to assist in loading the truck-mounted rig. By offsetting the two center Flexifloats®, a 15’ x 3.75’ “moon pool” was created to drill through. The contractor placed steel plate over the moon pool and achieved their core drilling through a small hole they cut into the plate. A hydraulic pumping unit and hydraulic winches were also included with the Flexifloat® equipment to raise and lower the spuds.
