Pedestrian Bridge Constructed Over Oklahoma River
Oklahoma City, OK
Manhattan Road & Bridge successfully utilized Flexifloats to construct a 484-foot pedestrian bridge spanning the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City. The bridge is a key element of Oklahoma City’s initiative to expand pedestrian walking trails throughout the area and specifically connects the north and south shores near the site of the new Okana Resort.
Due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the channel could not be drained, and no work roads were allowed within the waterway. Flexifloats offered an effective solution, enabling nearly the entire bridge—except for the abutments—to be built while floating on the river.
From the installation of drilled shaft foundations to beam erection and final formwork removal, Flexifloats played a critical role throughout the project. The construction team exclusively used S50 Flexifloats in a variety of configurations to adapt to different phases and demands of the build.
Landry Logan, Division Manager at Manhattan Road & Bridge, praised the system:
“Flexifloat’s technical support throughout the project was amazing, and the ease of connecting the floats with the integral locking system made it very easy to reconfigure the barge layouts when necessary.”
