Multiple Layers of Load Distribution
When operating a Manitowoc 4100W Series 3 ringer crane, the ring reaction below the base of the boom butt can exceed 1,000,000 lbs. while lifting the hook load. Contractors have used multiple layers of timber matting, steel frames, or a combination of the two to distribute the load to the rated Flexifloat deck bearing capacity of 5,000 psf.
